When everything seems to be going against you, when you have nowhere to turn, when there’s nowhere to run to fix things in your own ability, you are a PRISONER OF HOPE! Welcome to the camp here at thedevilneverwins.com! If you will only keep your eyes and focus on Jesus and His promise to take care of you, you will emerge victorious because He has already won the war against evil! Challenges, tests, trials, and whatever difficulties we face may seem to push us right up to the brink of failure, but nothing or no one can steal the Hope that lives inside a child of God!
I came across this phrase “prisoners of hope” while reading in the book of Zechariah. Zechariah 9:12 says, “Return to the stronghold [of security and prosperity], you prisoners of hope; even today do I declare that I will restore double your former prosperity to you” (Holy Bible, The Amplified Holy Bible, Zondervan 2015). The passage is talking to the remnant of Israelites who had been in Babylonian captivity for about 80 years, and the prophet was proclaiming their day of deliverance was near if they would only hold fast and hope in God’s promise.
The story of my family recorded in the books, songs, and articles listed on thedevilneverwins.com is also a series of “prisoner of hope” experiences, one right after another. In fact, I never thought to publish anything, songs or otherwise, until I became a prisoner of hope. As I write this article and finish setting up the website, I find myself in this familiar circumstance once again. If you read the chapter of my book, “In My Weaknesses, I Am Strong,” you will have a better understanding of the backstory, but here is the really quick version. Our house burned down with a complete loss of home and possessions nearly two years ago, our homeowner’s insurance still refuses to pay anything close to a fair settlement (so we are in court for who knows how long), and I’ve mortgaged everything else I had of value such as my business to replace our belongings and build a smaller guest house on my property so my family can move out of the fifth wheel camper we’ve been living in since the fire! With construction being ridiculously expensive, I still need some finances to complete this project; and we really want to start our main house without having to wait another 24 months on a settlement!

All these circumstances had me crying out to God for how He wants to supply my needs, and the answer came to me so loud and clear a couple months ago. God has given me several beautiful songs that would be a blessing to people beyond just our little local church family if they only had a way to hear and access them. By providing blessings of inspiration, hope, and godly truths in song for a very small cost that almost anyone can afford, the greater family of God around the world can in turn be a blessing to a brother in need. It's a fundraiser of sorts for our new home!
Once I started putting all this together, I found that there is much more of a ministry component to this endeavor than the songs alone. Every song I’ve written has a unique story (and believe me we’ve been through some unique and difficult times!), so a few of those stories are compiled in the book. This blog will be a continual source of fresh inspiration and I hope to see it become a place where people from all over the world can share their “devil never wins” stories as well because the word of our testimony is a powerful tool against the devil! I found that I enjoy writing much more than I ever dreamed I would, so there will likely be more books, songs, and more to come, so stay tuned!
Once again, welcome to the camp of “prisoners of hope!” Share your stories with us and the world by participating in this wonderful ministry of hope! Find out how to send us your story on the bottom of our main website page.
