The origin of the phrase, this powerful combination of words, "The Devil Never Wins!" is my wife, Nicole. You will hear a lot about her if you follow me as I begin this new venture, because we do everything together-- and because she is much wiser than I am in a lot of ways! I've included an excerpt from my book, The Devil Never Wins!: Stories and Scriptures Behind the Songs, which explains the origin of this phrase in our world, as well as the deeper meaning it has taken over the last couple of years. After a devastating and frightening loss of our home tried to weigh us down in our spirits and emotions, God gave me a new song, "The Devil Never Wins," to help us keep running our race as His servants here on this earth. Be inspired!
Nicole was giving some encouragement to a friend who had been going through some hard times, and on an especially difficult day her friend said, “It just seems like the devil won in my situation today.” “ No he didn’t!” Nicole responded. Even I was little surprised at the speed and strength of her reply. “The devil never wins! Never! Even when it seems like things are unfair or don’t go the way we think they should, we are still going to keep our eyes on Jesus and put our trust in Him.” That phrase just rung true when she said it, “the devil never wins!” Then she said it again in one of our hardest moments as a family just a couple months later… As we breathed heavily from running for our lives from a blazing house fire that we awoke to on a Thursday morning in August 2022, Nicole said, “the devil didn’t win today. That fire was meant to kill every one of us, but it couldn’t. The devil never wins.” I heard several of my friends start using this expression more often when talking about our struggles or difficult times. But is that statement always true?
Sorry to leave a cliffhanger here, but you'll just have to get the book to get my answer!
